Advancing vascular
surgery through
innovation.
Physician-led innovation. Surgical education. Global impact.
Harris Vascular Institute is a physician-founded organization dedicated to advancing vascular surgery through the development of innovative medical technologies, surgical education, mentorship, and global health initiatives.
Rooted in clinical experience and driven by a commitment to meaningful progress, our work seeks to address unmet needs, advance medical knowledge, and improve patient care.
Medical innovation
Physician-driven innovation. Clinically inspired solutions.
Advances in medical technology begin with an understanding of the challenges encountered in clinical practice. At Harris Vascular Institute, we are pursuing the development of next-generation endovascular technologies informed by firsthand procedural experience and an understanding of the evolving needs of vascular intervention.
Our development philosophy emphasizes clinical relevance, thoughtful engineering, and collaboration with experienced medical technology professionals.
Our approach
Clinical insight
Identifying opportunities for innovation through direct experience in endovascular surgery.
Technology development
Translating clinical concepts into investigational medical technologies through research, design, and development.
Strategic collaboration
Engaging qualified engineering, clinical, and industry partners to advance promising technologies.
Technologies under development are investigational and are not available for clinical use. Patent pending.

The Vascular Surgery Companion
A Practical Guide for Fellows and Trainees
Bridging the gap between surgical knowledge and operative experience.
The Vascular Surgery Companion is a forthcoming surgical textbook developed to provide vascular surgery fellows and residents with concise, practical guidance on contemporary vascular interventions.
Conceived by Dr. Randi J. K. Harris from his experiences during vascular surgery fellowship, the textbook addresses a critical need in surgical education: accessible, procedure-specific resources that integrate operative techniques, clinical decision-making, landmark evidence, and practical insights from experienced surgeons.
Developed in collaboration with recognized leaders in vascular surgery, the volume places particular emphasis on emerging endovascular and hybrid techniques that are often underrepresented in traditional surgical textbooks. Each chapter is designed to support procedural preparation, reinforce clinical judgment, and provide practical knowledge applicable to modern vascular practice.

Scholarship & academic contributions
A foundation in surgical scholarship.
Dr. Harris is a contributing author of four chapters in The ABSITE Blueprints, a Springer surgical review textbook for general surgery residents: Vascular Surgery, as first author, along with Trauma, Surgical Intensive Care, and Thoracic Surgery.
Our commitment extends beyond innovation.
At Harris Vascular Institute, we believe that innovation should be clinically relevant, education should be accessible, and the responsibility of physicians should extend beyond the patients they treat directly.
Physician mentorship
Investing in the next generation of physicians.
The path to a career in medicine can be challenging, particularly for students navigating the process without established professional connections or mentorship.
Harris Vascular Institute is committed to helping aspiring physicians overcome these barriers through individualized guidance, professional development, and exposure to careers in medicine, surgery, and medical innovation.
Our mission is to make meaningful mentorship more accessible and empower students to pursue their ambitions with confidence and purpose.
Program highlights
- Individualized academic and career guidance
- Medical school application preparation
- Personal statement and interview guidance
- Exposure to clinical medicine and medical innovation

Global health & surgical outreach
Expanding access to surgical care.
Geographic and economic barriers continue to limit access to essential surgical services in underserved communities worldwide.
Harris Vascular Institute is committed to addressing these disparities through international medical collaborations, surgical outreach, and community-centered healthcare initiatives.
Our first surgical mission is to Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay, Jamaica, in May 2027, with St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, to follow. We are now recruiting surgeons, anesthesia, nursing, allied health, trainees, and logistics and communications volunteers.
Opportunities to participate
- Physicians and surgeons: contribute clinical expertise through appropriately coordinated medical and surgical outreach
- Nurses and allied health professionals: support patient care, screening, education, and clinical operations
- Medical students and volunteers: participate in supervised educational, administrative, and community outreach activities
